Authors head to Lefkoşa for book-signings
LEFKOŞA’S iconic Rüstem Bookshop hosts the eminent Hungarian philosopher of science and prolific author Professor Ervin Laszlo on Monday for a book-signing and discussion of his latest work, The Intelligence of the Cosmos: Why Are We Here? New Answers from the Frontiers of Science.
Published in October, the book outlines a new understanding of matter and mind which is emerging at the cutting edge of research into physics and consciousness.
The event is jointly organised by North Cyprus-based psychotherapistcoach Viola Edward, who will also be present to sign the new edition of her book, Who Makes The Bed?.
Organisers said they were thrilled to host renowned academic Dr Laszlo, “who explains how we can evolve consciously, become connected with each other, and flourish on this planet”.
President and co-founder of the Club of Budapest, he has co-authored or edited 90 books in 23 languages, written several hundred papers and articles and edits the international periodical World Futures.
The 1932-born scientist is a member of the International Academy of Science, the World Academy of Arts and Science, the International Academy of Philosophy of Science, the International Medici Academy and was elected a member of the Hungarian Academy of Science in 2010.
A 1970 recipient of the Doctorat ès Lettres et Sciences Humaines from Paris’s Sorbonne university, he holds honorary PhDs from the US, Canada, Finland and Hungary, ran global UN projects for training and research, won the Goi Award and the Japan and Assisi Mandir peace prizes and was twice nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.
