Club ‘looking forward to a fantastic year’
KORINEUM Golf and Beach Resort in Esentepe is looking forward to a “fantastic 2018” with plans in the pipeline to renovate facilities while increasing tournaments and membership.
The club’s sales and marketing manager, Fulya Karademir, gave an overview of the objectives for this year during an exclusive interview with Cyprus Today.
The golf course is an 18-hole, 6,232m course and the club currently has more than 100 members while the new tennis section has some 30 members.
The whole course is spread across 65 hectares of land with olive and carob trees.
“Our most important target is pretty constant, which is to increase the yearly number of golf tourists that visit us and continue to establish the position of [Korineum] as a favoured holiday golf resort in Europe,” said Ms Karademir.
“Last year we hosted the first annual John Regis Amateur Golf Open Tournament which was in aid of a charity based abroad.
“This was a huge event as we had several world renowned sports celebrities attend the tournament and stay at our hotel.
“Every year we work towards planning and hosting big sports and wedding events and we have some for 2018 which we are not yet at liberty to announce.”
Speaking about the importance of the club to TRNC tourism and golf, she added: “Korineum is an investment which brings added value to the TRNC in more than one respect.
“Locally, it provides job opportunities and is a reason for acres of land and trees to be well looked after providing a green environment in an extremely dry climate.
“This is all maintained with sustainable methods with an end result of a beautifully manicured, world class golf course.
“Furthermore, the investment itself is added value to the land and geographic areas surrounding it, providing a serious up lift to the real estate sector in this area.”
