Tiger Woods is delighted
TIGER Woods reflected on a “fun” opening round of the Farmers Insurance Open and expressed his delight at being back in PGA Tour competition.
With barely any tournament golf over the last two years blighted by a series of back problems, Woods fired a level-par 72 on the South Course at Torrey Pines — four shots lower than his scrappy effort 12 months ago which led to an aborted comeback.
Looking noticeably fitter and more mobile than last year following spinal fusion surgery, Woods attributed his slow start to a touch of rust as he bogeyed two of the first five holes, but he dropped only one further shot while making three birdies.
