More donations needed to ‘home’ abandoned dogs

- By YASEMIN GÜLPINAR

ANIMAL lovers are close to reaching their targets in fundraising campaigns for two abandoned dogs to go to new homes in the UK — but more donations are still needed.

Almost £700 of the necessary £800 was raised in 20 days to pay travel costs and veterinary bills for Sarer, a Labrador-type dog which was rescued from the streets in December after being found with a broken leg and a tumour for which she will be receiving chemotherapy. The 250TL cost of the treatment has already been donated by generous supporters of the Hope 4 Pets charity which is now trying to raise the remaining money for her to travel to a new home in Nottinghamshire.

Meanwhile, online fundraising got under way on Sunday for a dog called Kylie because her foster carer, who found her in October last year, is no longer able to care for her in an apartment.

The vaccinated and neutered “small breed” has luckily found a forever home in Bradford and once £500 is raised she will be sent there. Around £300 has so far been collected.

Chairman of Hope 4 Pets Stephanie Harrison-Croft told Cyprus Today: “As soon as we raise the money for them both, they will be on their way to their new homes which we are very happy to have found so quickly thanks to some very kind people.

“We are also, of course, very grateful to those who launched the appeal and those who have donated money so far.”

Among the donations, Hope 4 Pets received 540TL that was raised by a Christmas party at Alvadar restaurant in Lapta where a raffle was held in aid of the charity.
