London Angels’ Gala Ball boosts Tulips
A GALA ball has been organised by the “London Angels” community group in aid of the Help Those With Cancer Association (Tulips).
Held at the Regency Banqueting Suite in Tottenham last Sunday, the ball was fronted by Neslihan Çakır, a member of the group’s administration board.
TRNC London representative Zehra Başaran was among those present at the event whose main sponsor was Girne-based Les Ambassadeurs Hotel and Casino with support from London-based Turkish Cypriot organisations.
Top of the bill performer was celebrity singer Semra Türel along with Baha Yetkin, Ercüment İbrahim, Hüseyin Cemgünal and Abone Orhan who provided classical Turkish and Turkish Cypriot music.
The ball was also attended by Tulips chairman Raziye Kocaismail who thanked participants for their support.
“The proceeds from the ball will be used to buy four new pieces of equipment to treat cancer patients,” Dr Teoman Sırrı MBE told Cyprus Today.
London Angels’ chairman Nurten Mehmet said that since 1993, as the Help Those With Cancer in Cyprus Association, they had helped patients in need and she thanked administration board members Aydın Hasan, Serpil Bülbüloğlu, Nazan Mustafa, Tülin Karaman, Pembe Hasan, Neslihan Çakır and Şenel Mehmet for their efforts.
Mrs Başaran congratulated the London Angels “for coming together and forming such a fantastic group which is helping patients with cancer and saving lives.”
Les Ambassadeurs Hotel and Casino owner Halil Falyalı, who was represented at the ball by Kemal Altunç, donated £2,000 to the total raised. “Mr Falyalı is very sensitive regarding these issues,” said Mr Altunç in his address.
Plaques were presented by Mrs Mehmet to those who had supported the event and the amount raised will be announced later.
