‘Mersin 10’ address changed 2 years ago

-

i HaVe been buying bits and bobs from eBay and amazon for the past 30 years and have been getting them delivered to me by post here in the TRnC and never have i had anything that has got lost or gone missing. i am well known by the Customs and excise people, as sometimes i have duty to pay and the packages are checked.

The workers in the post office have always been polite and helpful, as i would call in maybe twice a week to collect packages and letters for both myself and my neighbour.

The address is no longer “Mersin 10” as it was changed approximately two years ago — in my case to “Mersin 99440”, which is Karsıyaka, girne, TRnC. So if you people who are missing letters and packets would make sure that the postal address is correct, perhaps there would be no need to complain to the newspapers.

Of course, some people will complain about the least thing. Last week i saw someone complain on social media about the bad weather, just because we have had a couple of days where it rained. This same person goes back to the UK every summer because it is far too hot for her here. Did these people not know what the weather was going to be like before they came to live here, or are they not aware that we can have some winters here when we have rain, but only for a few days at a time, and hot summer days when sometimes it can get as hot as 42°C in the shade? Rarely in winter here does it go down below 10°C. are there days during the UK winter — which can last from October to May — when you can sit outside in the sun and have your breakfast or lunch? i don’t think so, not while i was there anyway.

it is a fact that you can have a full range of medical tests done here in the morning and have the results in your hand in the afternoon when you go to see the doctor, all for under £120. Do you find this expensive? Then please return to the UK as soon as possible, where you may have to wait a few months to see a consultant and another month or so for the results. Mind you, it’s free on the nHS. if you want it quickly you are required to pay much more than here, i might add. Anthony Bolger, Karşıyaka PS The weather forecast for March and april in the UK is “wet and windy with some snow over high ground but with an odd dry day”.
