Fees rise 13%,

FEES for government services rose by up to 13 per cent on Thursday, in a move that had been delayed for two months because of January’s early general election.

The raft of price hikes, on costs including residence and work permits and annual vehicle road tax, was enshrined in a ministeria­l decree published in the Official Gazette on Wednesday.

The increases mean the cost of an annual temporary residence permit has gone up to 345TL from 305TL. A six-month permit costs 172TL, up from 152TL and a two-year permit 690TL, up from 610TL.

Work permits now cost 195TL for six months, 422TL for a year and 844TL for two years — up from 172.50TL, 373.50TL and 747TL respective­ly. The fee for a business permit has gone up from 796TL to 899TL.

The cost of becoming a TRNC citizen has risen to 780TL, from 690TL.

Meanwhile, road tax has risen, for petrol vehicles, to 28Kr per kilo on vehicles up to 1,016kg (was 25Kr); 49Kr per kilo for vehicles of 1,017kg to 1,270kg (was 43Kr); 1.18TL for those between 1,271kg and 1,524kg (was 1.05TL) and 1.65TL for those over 1,524kg (was 1.47TL). For diesel vehicles, the figures are: up to 1,016kg now 46Kr per kilo (was 41Kr); 1,017-1,270kg now 70Kr (62Kr); 1,271-1,524kg now 1.18TL (1.05TL); over 1,524kg now 1.65TL (1.47TL). Motorbikes now attract tax of 72TL on engines of up to 100cc (up from 64TL), while the charge on 101-300cc bikes is 131TL (was 116TL); 301-500cc is now 186TL (from 164.50TL) and over 500cc is now 373TL (from 330TL).

A driving test now costs 375TL, up from 330TL, while the cost of a two-year TRNC driving licence has gone up to 269.80TL, from 239.80TL.

The cost of firearms licences, hotel management permits, TRNC passports and visas have also all increased, along with consular fees and marriage, birth and death registrati­ons.
