Closing event features lives of Asian migrants
“HOUSEMAIDS and their parallel worlds” is the name of a closing event tonight at Goethe Institut, following a series of exhibitions and screenings showing an insight into the life of Asian migrants.
The event encompasses the last day of Berlin-based photographer Rebecca Sampson’s Apples for Sale exhibition, depicting the insecure circumstances of Indonesian maids living and working in Hong Kong as “secondclass” migrants. Anthropologist Maren Wickwire’s documentary Together Apart — an “intimate family portrait” of an Igorot mother and her daughter who left the Philippines in search of work — will also be screened at the Ledra Palace buffer zone venue. The event starts at 7pm and entrance is free.
