Fundraisers lined up for eggs-cellent weekend

EASTER weekend will be an eggscellent one for charity, with a range of fundraisers lined up.

Two separate events will be held in aid of the North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust, the first an Easter market at Alsancak’s Black Olive Café on Friday, where there will be stalls, a raffle and also a “guess the weight of the cake” game between 11.30am and 2pm. Support for the Trust continues with a “Family Eggciting” event at Lapta’s Wild Duck Café on April 1, featuring children’s activities and a 1pm-to-3pm Easter egg hunt. The free-ofcharge event, from noon, will also include a craft market, facepainting, a tombola and refreshments until 5pm.

Next Saturday, March 31, sees a Spring Fayre complete with fairground games, a tombola and stalls selling arts and crafts, cakes, jewellery, gardening and pet products, “gladrags”, handbags and handicrafts made by the children of the Ziyamet Special Needs School. Organised by the Making a Difference group to fund a portable “magic carpet sensory projector” for the school, the event takes place at Esentepe’s Seawise venue from 1pm and will also feature a “mini-auction”. The fundraisers continue on Easter Sunday, when the Golden Paws Association stages a car treasure hunt in aid of dogs rescued from a shelter at Vadili. Participants should meet at Çatalköy’s Supreme Supermarket car park at 12.30pm for a 1pm start, while those without “wheels” can meet the group at SeAngle Bar at 3.30pm for sandwiches, cake and entertainment by Müge Lara and Eagle Demir. Canines also star in the day’s other event — a “fun dog show” at Küçük Erenköy’s Roots Bar in aid of the Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble 2018 and Hope 4 Pets. Registration starts at 1.30pm, with pets being judged in a range of categories. Monday, April 2, sees the Foreign Residents group (TFR) hold their members’ Easter lunch, at which proceeds from a tombola will go to charity.
