DOGS of all shapes and sizes — along with their owners — took part in the second Fun Dog Show to be held at Roots Bar in Küçük Erenköy on Sunday.
Organised by Gill and Ivor Moon in aid of the Esentepe Fun, Run and Ramble 2018, raising funds for the Help Those With Cancer Association (Tulips), and Hope 4 Pets, the show brought in 2,200TL to be shared between the two charities.
Dogs took part in seven categories which were judged by Royal British Legion Kyrenia branch chairman Brian Thomas and included Best Golden Oldie, Musical Sit, and Waggiest Tail. More fun was then added with an energetic “sausage-catching” competition.
Owners of the winning pets — most them from Kyrenia Animal Rescue or otherwise previously abandoned — were presented with rosettes.
A raffle was held along with a “guess the number of dog biscuits in the jar” game, with both contributing to the amount raised on the day, as did a bric-à-brac stall run by Sarah Heffernan, Barbara Burton and Karen Lain.
Efrar 2018 committee chairman Mary Watson thanked organisers for their hard work, including Caroline Griffith for managing the categories and being responsible for registrations, judge Mr Thomas and the venue for once again hosting the show.
“We were delighted to join H4P for the second annual dog show”, said Mrs Watson.
“The event was again really well-organised and attended, with great support by the venue which provided food and made a significant contribution to funds raised for cancer patients and animals.”
