The Matrix 7.15pm beIN Movies Action 2
A GROUNDBREAKING, blockbuster sci-fi epic, that won Oscars for stunning technical effects in 1999. A cult classic.
Keanu Reeves is Neo, who discovers computers have taken over the world, humans are kept in pods, the reality of their lives is a computer generated fantasy. Not a million miles from today’s speculations by quantum physicists that reality is a collective illusion. Think about it.
Neo joins rebels, led by Morpheus, alias Laurence Fishburne, trying to free the human race from virtualreality bondage. The fight scenes are memorable and the stylised action is non-stop. The brothers Andy and Larry Wachowski directed and wrote the script. You won’t be surprised to learn they used to write comic book adventures. Matrix cost $60 million to make and grossed $475 million worldwide.
This genre milestone spawned two sequels and stretched the boundaries of the public’s imagination and digital-effects technology.
Oscars for Film Editing, Best Sound and Sound and Visual Effects Editing.
Radio Times called it: “A mix of ultra-cool visuals, vertigo-inducing kung fu and a deliciously paranoid scenario for an adrenaline-pumping rollercoaster ride of extraordinary vision and astounding power.”
