‘Easter bunny’ makes ‘special’ egg delivery
THIRTEEN youngsters from the Ziyamet Special Needs School had an eggstraordinary meeting with the “Easter bunny” as part of a seasonal celebration organised by the Making a Difference (MAD) support group.
The encounter came during a party organised on Monday at the Çelebi Garden Hotel in Mehmetçik, at which the children played games including pass the parcel and showed off their hula hoop skills after the helpers and teachers had shown theirs.
Lunch was followed by an Easter egg each for all of the school’s pupils — handed to those at the party by the “Easter bunny” and a penguin-costumed assistant — provided by John Kirk and members of the Ayios Nikolaos Golf Club, at Dhekelia.
The fun-packed festivities ended on the dance floor, the young partygoers playing with balloons and one displaying her dance talents, from ballet to traditional folk.
Claire Lamb, of MAD, said: “At the end . . . the children all clambered on to the bus to take them back to school — tired but very, very happy. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day such a terrific event for our wonderful children of Ziyamet.”
