Legal failures

-

YOU probably remember the farce that surrounded the potential early release of a UK serial sex attacker named Worboys. Thankfully, he now will be kept inside, but no thanks to so-called “Justice Secretary” David Gauke, who could have overruled the Parole Board decision to release him, but failed to do so.

It took two of his victims taking out a High Court challenge to overturn the decision and keep the public menace behind bars. Now Gauke has at last admitted he was responsible for the original decision to release. He now claims he “did not want the sex offender released”. Oh really? So why release him? The man should resign, full stop.

Sadly, this madness at the heart of the UK judicial system gets worse. A Romanian gangster, wanted in his own country for murder, blackmail and “organised crime”, has just been turned free by a UK court and allowed to stay in Britain because the overcrowded jails in Romania “might breach his human rights”. Pardon? Are the judges bonkers? Maybe, but that’s not the point. The fact that the insane Human Rights Act remains where Tony Blair put it, on the UK statute book, means criminals, bogus asylumseekers, hate preachers, and every other kind of undesirable, are free to abuse its existence at every turn (and they do).

So, a word of advice, Theresa. When you have finished getting rid of your dope of a Justice Secretary, turn your attention to this ridiculous Human Rights Act and get rid of that too. It directly challenges both decency and the genuine civil rights Brits have always taken for granted. Scrap it!
