Outings for a cause

TWELVE stalls sold a range of handmade products at the first-ever craft fair to be organised by Doğanköy Community Association.

The fair, at Karakum’s Courtyard Inn, raised 600TL for the Help Those With Cancer Association (Tulips) when it was visited by an estimated 40 people on Sunday.

Products on sale ranged from drawings and photographs to tiles and ceramics, chutney and jams to jewellery and cards. A Tulips stall also sold fundraising handicrafts and food was served by the venue.

Organiser Paula Shirley said: “This was a trial fair for us where we promoted handmade products in beautiful weather. Next year we will definitely consider organising it again in the hope of having even more stalls and visitors.”
