Edward is laid to rest

- By YASEMIN GÜLPINAR

THE funeral of Alsancak resident Edward Brian Hills has taken place at GreenHill Cemetery above Karaoğlanoğlu.

More than 30 family members and close friends attended the service for the 63-year-old who died of cancer in Lefkoşa State Hospital on May 12.

Mr Hills leaves behind his partner of 22 years, Karen Tiley, with whom he had lived in Alsancak for 13 years. The former welder, who had travelled the world in connection with his work, was also remembered at a celebration of his life in the Road House bar where the couple had been regulars.

“He was a loud, outgoing man full of life and loved his football and rugby as much as he loved his cats and dogs,” said Ms Tiley, who met Mr Hills in Bristol before they moved to the TRNC. “I would like to thank the staff and doctors at the hospital who were fantastic and also friends and family who have been a great support. “Although I get upset thinking about his loss, I just wanted him not to suffer any more as he went through a lot and had become weak after all the health complications he experienced.”
