Tatlısu resident Mickie becomes latest donor to Bundle of Hair campaign

- By YASEMIN GÜLPINAR

HAIR today, gone . . . as one Tatlısu resident did her bit to help patients receiving life-saving treatment through the Help Those With Cancer Association (Tulips).

Michelle Tanner, known as Mickie, became the latest donor to the Bundle of Hair campaign to create real-hair wigs for sufferers who lose their locks as a resuld of cancer treatment.

The 24-year-old PR officer at Vistamar Management decided to cut her hair after growing it for three years, and stylist Donna Canhasan, of Donna’s Beauty Lounge at Tatlısu, performed the chop for free.

The cut tresses will now be sent via Tulips to İstanbul to be made into a hairpiece to be returned to North Cyprus to help put the smile back on one patient’s face.

Miss Tanner said: “Now that we are coming up to summer, it was time for me to cut my hair, as I had had it long for a long time.”

She said she consulted local charity activitist Claire Lamb for advice, and added: “I thought there might be something that could put it to good use and . . . she found the campaign, which was brilliant.

“Hair is . . . very important for a woman as appearance can be everything. Through this campaign they have the chance to look normal again, which boosts their morale. I am happy to be part of that.”

Ms Canhasan is offering a free cut for others who wish to donate their hair to the campaign — call 0533 858 9906.
