Fenerbahçe ‘Slam dunks’ women’s basketball title
TURKEY’S Fenerbahçe became champions of the 2017-2018 Women’s Basketball Super League after scoring 62-53 against the TRNC’s Near East University (NEU) at the Metro Energy venue in İstanbul, on Sunday.
NEU took the lead by scoring 20-15 during the first quarter and 31-24 in the second but Fenerbahçe were in charge as soon as the second half began to finish the third quarter 4739.
The final period saw hard defences by both teams but Fenerbahçe remained in the lead with a final score of 62-53.
Fenerbahçe were presented with a trophy by Özden Pelister of the Turkish Basketball Federation while NEU players and officials received medals.
Meanwhile, the NEU men’s team became champions of the Cyprus Vakıflar Bank Male Basketball League at the Güzelyurt Atatürk Sports Stadium on Friday last week when they played against the European University of Lefke and won by a close 74-73.
