Celebrating a 70th birthday with a ’60s-themed party
OZANKÖY resident Barbara Osborne recently celebrated her 70th birthday with a 1960s-themed party at her home.
Around a 100 family members and friends attended the party, some in fancy dress as rock chicks, hippies and a John McEnroe, while entertainment was by DJ Mike Schofield followed by The Gasoline Band and Bex Marshall who ensured plenty of dancing to live music. Vietnamese food was laid out in a buffet for guests to tuck into and a cake was cut later in the evening.
Following a request from Mrs Osborne, some 1,400TL was also collected in lieu of gifts to help towards the expenses of a local expat resident’s daughter who is undergoing cancer treatment. Mrs Osborne and her husband Jeff, who came to North Cyprus 32 years ago when they used to run restaurants, were said to be enjoying opportunities for foreign travel when not living life to the full in their adopted home.
Close friend of the couple Paul Jones said how “happy and surprised” he was regarding the number of people who had turned up for the party.
