Top Turkish cuisine
A “FINE dining” restaurant specialising in Turkish food opened its doors with a cocktail reception last week.
Present at the event were Economy and Energy Minister Özdil Nami, National Unity Party MP Ersin Tatar and leading business figures including Kıbrıs Media Group vice-chairman Nur Nadir.
Co-owners of Old Şamdan are Turkish businessmen Erhan Hasırcı and İsmail Kaya, who said they were delighted to welcome customers to sample their restaurant’s Gaziantep cuisine.
The new establishment, in Köşklüçiftlik, Lefkoşa, has a restaurant and bar with an open garden on the ground floor while on the first floor there is a library where customers can have coffee while perusing books — and an area for children to play under the supervision of trained teachers.
“The main aim of the whole team that worked on the restaurant project was to provide the Lefkoşa and North Cyprus community with a service they receive from restaurants and other leisure facilities while abroad,” said the co-owners in a statement.
“We also hope that welcoming customers from South Cyprus will contribute towards the economy.
“Our kitchen is made up of chefs who have worked in many renowned, high-class restaurants around Turkey.”
