Youngsters from TRNC and Syria showcase their talents in Bellapais
AN INTERNATIONAL selection of promising young musicians showcase their talents at an Island’s Dream concert at the 22nd Bellapais International Music Festival next Sunday, June 10.
“Young Talents” features pianists Deniz Besim, 13, and Tambi Cimlik, 20, from the TRNC and Syria, with solo recitals of works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Chopin and Liszt.
TRNC/Azerbaijan flautist İlayda Erten offers a recital of works by Bach, Chaminade and Debussy with Turkish folksongs and will be accompanied by Gülnare Özdemir.
The concert also features the Crux (Southern Cross) Piano Quartet from Thailand — four students from the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music in Bangkok. Young pianist Nardvadee Suthisomboon and violinist Yanini Pongpakatien join Chamamas Kaewbuadee on viola and Wathusuri Karawapong on double bass to perform sonatas by Beethoven and Schumann and a Mendelssohn piano quartet.
This month’s concerts continue tomorrow evening with a flute and piano recital from Italy by Alessandro Crosta and Nadia Testa.
A violin and piano recital follows on Thursday with a programme of Beethoven’s SonataOp96, Schubert’s RondoBrillant, Debussy’s ClairdeLune and Brahms’s SonataOp108, performed by Viennese violinist Gernot Winischhofer and French pianist Bertrand Giraud
Tuesday, June 12 promises a programme of chamber music by the Olten String Quartet from Turkey and a Wednesday, June 20 public concert by the Military District Band of the Turkish Peace Forces in the TRNC rounds off the season before an invitation-only repeat performance on Thursday, June 21.
