THIS disaster movie about man-eating prehistoric monsters who escape from a modern nature reserve broke all box office records in 1993.

This blockbuster by director Steven Spielberg, from Michael Crichton’s novel took almost a billion dollars worldwide.

The plot seems scientifically credible. Slightly bonkers millionaire John Hammond, alias Richard Attenborough, has created the ultimate theme park on a remote island. He has recreated dinosaurs from DNA found in pieces of long buried amber.

Hammond invites paleontologists Sam Neill and Laura Dern and a mathematician, alias Jeff Goldblum, for a preview, along with his grand-kids Joseph Mazello and Ariana Richards. Guess what happens next?

A storm hits the island, the electric fences break down and man-eating monsters are on the prowl.

This does for Tyrannasaurus Rex what Spielberg’s earlier thriller Jaws did for man-eating sharks. Once you start watching, you won’t switch off. It won Oscars for Sound, Special Visual Effects and Special Sound Effects.
