The Seventies were the ego-fuelled heyday of these super smooth kingpins of the small screen and Will Ferrell convinces as the archetypal “legend” of San Diego television.
Ron Burgundy is a sexist who is offended by plans to have him share the TV limelight with a female co-presenter, although he also fancies the lady in question, dishy Christina Applegate. Ron’s chat up line is — “I’m very important.
“I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.”
Ron tells his dog — “You’re so wise. You’re like a miniature Buddha, covered in hair.”
Burgundy’s preening equivalents are still around today.
Guest appearances from Ben Stiller, Tim Robbins and Seth Rogan.
Adam McKay directed in 2004 and co-wrote the script with Ferrell.
