Kervan awarded top league prize
WINNERS in the North Cyprus Tuborg Pool Premier League were awarded their prizes in a ceremony at the Kervan café and bar in the Kervansaray coastal area of Karaoğlanoğlu.
Trophies and medals were handed out last Tuesday, and venue owner and league chairman Ertan Tümsoy told Cyprus Today it had been the culmination of a “fantastic” October-to-May season involving 14 teams.
“The league has progressed, attracting more teams and players and it’s great to see it picking up so well,” he said.
“Not only are players getting used to the rules, they are improving their skills and game play.
“We have already started our plans for the next season, to start in October.”
Kervan ended the season as league champions, with Little Pub runners-up and Baxters (Gala) in third place. The Kervan Rebels team won the Tom Lewis Trophy.
İlker Özen, of the Baragadi team, was awarded the singles championship, with Natheen Haloob, as runner-up.
Doubles winners were Gibby and Aydın, of the Baxters (Gala) team, with the Little Pub’s Orhan and Orçun in second.
