LOS Angeles-based Turkish Cypriot flautist Burak Beşir played a sell-out Festival of Arts concert at Laguna Beach in California, with pianist, film composer and orchestrator Jeremy Borum.

The duo performed the Chaminade Flute Concertino on July 15 at the Pageant of the Master show which also featured his 11-year-old musical theatre singer and actress daughter Lal, a student of USand North Cyprus-based soprano and teacher Demetra Mustafaoğlu.

Mr Beşir played charity concerts at the Bedestan with the Çatalköy-based diva and also at Bellapais Abbey in July last year which was organised by the Girne Özgürada Lions Club to raise funds for children with leukaemia.

The show included a sneak preview of his new US album, Passion, ahead of its launch and tour last year.

The Lefkoşa-born musician and James Galway masterclass student told Cyprus Today he was now working in the US on a project with the Video Games Orchestra which was “still a closely guarded secret”, and added: “I have no current plans to return to the island yet.”
