Artists launch ‹stanbul exhibition to raise funds for Greece fire victims,
VICTIMS of last week’s devastating Greek forest fire are to benefit from an exhibition in İstanbul launched by Turkish Cypriot artist Salih Mustafa Çizel and Iranian graphic artist and teacher Arezou Behrang.
More than 75 works have already been submitted by Turkish, Iranian and regional artists for the Supporting Greece through Art show after the campaign launched on social media on July 25.
Mr Çizel said: “I was with the graphic artist in Turkey at a workshop when she announced her plan and I offered to donate a picture and share the campaign.
“I hope all artists can find a work to donate so that we can help the victims through this trauma, just as we would wish it, were it ourselves.”
İstanbul-based Ms Behrang said she had applied to İstanbul municipalities and organisations to host the show, adding: “I am inviting all artists to post their original pictures, drawings and photographs on my personal Facebook page so that we can use our art to help make a difference in this tragedy.”
