Dog abuse caught on CCTV,

-

A YOUNG boy was caught on security camera illtreating a dog and then urinating on it after forcing open fridges on a petrol station forecourt, said its owner.

Footage is said to show the youngster, thought to be about 12, arriving at Macilla Petrol Station in Lefkoşa’s Çağlayan district at around midnight last Friday, when he broke open the fridges, threw much of their contents at the petrol station’s pet dog — which had undergone an operation some two months previously — then used the terrified animal for targetpractice by kicking a football at it some 20 times. He urinated on it before running away. The dog is not believed to have suffered any lasting ill-effect.

“I was able to identify the boy and called his mother who told me that her son had run away from home and there was nothing she could do,” said owner of the petrol station Erdoğan Macilla.

“I later learned that he had been involved in other criminal activity. We have suffered damage, quite apart from what he did to the dog, and I want this boy found and rehabilitated before he does the same or worse to others.”

Mr Macilla said he had passed the camera footage to police, but had not lodged a formal complaint.
