Another successful Salsa Jam event

ORGANISERS of the 13th Salsa Jam festival are celebratin­g “another successful event” which attracted more than 70 participan­ts from 25 countries.

In addition to workshops for salsa, Dominican bachata, reggaeton, Afro fusion and parties in the seven-day festival at Çatalköy’s Olive Tree Hotel between September 20 and 27 were highlights including a boat party and a two-day trip to the Karpaz.

Local singer Hasan Günyaz performed on Sunday, September 23, which was also his birthday.

“We had very good feedback, there was great energy,” said organiser Mehmet Aslan, who over past 16 years has travelled to 34 countries to promote the festival and North Cyprus. Dancers from countries including Cuba, Mexico, Brazil, UK, Germany, Holland, Iran, Lebanon, Sweden, Slovakia, Russia, Ukraine, Italy and Spain took part.

“I have faced many challenges, economic, world issues, etc . . . and every year has been different, hard work, a challenge and requiring determinat­ion. I really focused on bringing people together, uniting them through dance and music, by sharing love and peace,” he said, while also sending a message of thanks to all who supported the event.

Main sponsors of the festival were the Olive Tree Hotel, Fronius, Toros Ltd, the Education and Culture Ministry, Soydan Petrol, Efes Pilsen, and Girne and Karpaz municipali­ties.
