Michael Douglas plays a charming old money bags trying to hang on to his lost youth by marrying a much younger woman. An echo of his real-life marriage to 30-year-old Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2000.
In the movie, Douglas throws a stag party in Vegas for three old buddies. Morgan Freeman is a wily oldtimer, Robert De Niro is a cranky widower, and Kevin Kline is so depressed by his diminishing libido his wife has given him a free pass to get up to whatever mischief he fancies.
Kline steals the acting honours, along with Mary Steenburgen as a sexy 60-year-old lounge singer who rekindles a fire in Douglas for someone closer to his own age.
Directed in 2013 by Jon Turteltaub from a script by Dan Fogelman.
Empire magazine said: “While it’s as tacky and obvious as Sin City itself, this comedy is watchable thanks to a lively pace and spirited turns from Kline and Steenburgen. An unabashed old-timers’ fantasy.”
