‘True wealth’ of Cyprus

THE “astronomical” cost of air fares between the UK and Ercan airport could be cut by new routes from London to the TRNC and “touchdown” flights which mean there is no need for passengers to disembark in Turkey, it was disclosed this week.

Tourism and Environment Minister Fikri Ataoğlu, who received a stern warning over the cost of air travel from Turkish Cypriot civil groups in London this week, said the new services would be operated by Turkish Airlines.

“I hope they will play a role in reducing air fares as a big effort is being made to promote North Cyprus internationally with a 20182021 strategic plan that is now in the pipeline for the Girne and Bafra

Ioannou’s post had caused “great distress and offence” to the Turkish Cypriot community.

“Tolerance should not be shown to racist people who work in public positions because they exploit their position and only serve to foster hatred,” he said.

“We are, however, happy that Enfield Council has taken the complaints seriously and that action is being taken. We will wait to see the final outcome before deciding what to do next.”
