TWELVE people attended the most recent monthly whiskytasting event at the Kaya Palazzo Hotel in Karaoğlanoğlu.

Organised by the Caledonian Society of Cyprus, the evening saw some participants arrive with whiskies to add to those that the venue had put on display, so giving a choice for sampling that included brews from Vietnam and India in addition to more traditional Scottish and Irish brands. Emerging as favourite among the group, however, was a 12year-old Scottish Glenmorangie.

With appetites suitably sharpened by the sampling, a roast dinner was tucked into by members of the group and their guests.

Caledonian Society Chieftain Scott Kennedy said: “This monthly event is held every last Thursday of the month between September and March or April and everyone is welcome to join.

“It is a good way of socialising and getting to know each other as we gather to enjoy some of the best and most interesting whisky available.”
