Swimmers break records
TWO Turkish Cypriot swimmers left new TRNC records in their wake when competing in a major Turkish tournament.
Organised by the Turkish Swim- ming Federation, the gala was held in memory of Ümit Saka, a renowned swimming coach who died in a traffic accident in September.
The event which ended on Sunday at the Antalya Turkish Olympic Preparation Centre saw Near East University (NEU) team member Doğukan Ulaç record a time of 00.54.68 in the 100m freestyle to smash the TRNC record for the distance.
Also in record-breaking form was another NEU swimmer, Emre Ersoy, who set a new best in the same event for the 14-16 age group by clocking 00.57.53.
