Land Rover Tomcat first in Off-road Rally-Sprint

A LAND Rover Tomcat crossed the finish line in 07:47.9 to give victory in last Saturday’s Yusuf Hüdan Off-road Rally-Sprint tournament to Ahmet Baştaş and Doğa Koyuncu of the Baştaşlar team.

The event in Tatlısu was organised by the North Cyprus Off Road Association in memory of the late Yusuf Hüdan, an association founder and board member, who passed away in August at the age of 48 following a sudden illness that shocked the community.

Sponsored by Tatlısu Municipality and held under the auspices of the Prime Ministry AntiDrugs Commission, the tournament was directed by the North Cyprus Automobile Club and supported by Güven Insurance, Telsim Vodafone and Capital Radio.

Second across the finish line in 08:17.7 were Argun Çağıl and Harun Çakır, also in a Land Rover Tomcat, followed in third place by Niyazi Bedel and Hakan Güney of the Zubi team who clocked 08.02.9.

Overall winner of the All-Terrain Vehicles category was Sona Singh, while the Utility Terrain category victors were Iraz Tuğberk and Efe Özhakkı.

An awards ceremony was held at the Zambak Holiday Village, with Tatlısu Mayor Hayri Orçan presenting trophies and medals along with Mr Hüdan’s daughter, Tuğdem, close friend Öcal Topal, North Cyprus Off Road Association chairman Hasan Kofalı, Kyrenia Off Road Association chairman Hakan Denizalp and North Cyprus Automobile Club head Zeki Topcu.
