Jim Carrey is terrific as Truman Burbank who gradually realises he is the star of the most watched television actuality show on the planet. His hometown is a movie set.

Truman’s wife, unnervingly played by Laura Linney, is acting the part and Ed Harris is the TV mastermind who dreamed up this ultimate reality show.

Truman had his suspicions. Why does his wife shout advertising jingles for no reason?

One critic said this movie tears away the tinsel of life to reveal the tinsel beneath.

The public loved it. The film made a profit of $200 million at the box office. Peter Weir directed in 1998 from a script by Andrew Niccol.
