Drink-driver ‘hits two teenagers’

A DRINK-driver failed to stop after his pick-up truck hit two teenagers on a Girne pedestrian crossing, the town’s District Court was told on Tuesday.

Şaban Aygın, 45, was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol when he was traced and arrested in Çatalköy following the incident on the Naci Talat Caddesi crossing last Saturday which resulted in Derin Hürdeniz, 15, and Ata Taşkın, 16, being taken to Girne State Hospital. Derin is still undergoing treatment for his injuries, although Ata was later discharged.

Aygın was bailed pending trial and his driving licence was confiscated.
