Supreme Judiciary Board appoints new judges and promotes existing ones

FOUR new judges — three of them women — have been appointed and three existing ones promoted, it was announced by the Supreme Judiciary Board this week.

The newly appointed judges, who will take up their duties from February 1, include female lawyers Özge Uğraşın, Jale Dizdarlı Ergüden and Dilşah Karayel, who will be joined by a new male colleague, Şevket Gazi.

Existing judges Gökhan Asafoğulla­rı, Rauf Kürşad and Mesut Mesutoğlu are all promoted to the rank of senior judge.

The Supreme Judiciary Board consists of the High Court chairman, a High Court judge, the Attorney-General, a member appointed by the president and a member appointed by the Bar associatio­n.
