Supreme Ju­di­ciary Board ap­points new judges and pro­motes ex­ist­ing ones

FOUR new judges — three of them women — have been ap­pointed and three ex­ist­ing ones pro­moted, it was an­nounced by the Supreme Ju­di­ciary Board this week.

The newly ap­pointed judges, who will take up their du­ties from Fe­bru­ary 1, in­clude fe­male lawyers Özge Uğraşın, Jale Diz­darlı Ergü­den and Dilşah Karayel, who will be joined by a new male col­league, Şevket Gazi.

Ex­ist­ing judges Gökhan Asafoğulları, Rauf Kürşad and Me­sut Me­su­toğlu are all pro­moted to the rank of se­nior judge.

The Supreme Ju­di­ciary Board con­sists of the High Court chair­man, a High Court judge, the At­tor­ney-Gen­eral, a mem­ber ap­pointed by the pres­i­dent and a mem­ber ap­pointed by the Bar as­so­ci­a­tion.
