Wonder Woman. 9.30pm beIN Movies Action

A WAY above average superhero caper that puts the warrior princess on a par with Superman, Batman and the rest of the boys. A rollicking, kickass adventure with a sense of humour that reminded critics of an Indiana Jones romp. Relax after the celebrations and enjoy this escapist confection.

Former Miss Israel Gal Gadot is made to measure as Diana Prince, a goddess of the female race of Amazons who live on a remote island. During the First World War, Wonder Woman rescues an American pilot Steve Trevor, alias Chris Pine, who understandably falls head over heels for this remarkable lass. It's the old Superman formula of Clark Kent and his adoring helpmate Lois Lane with roles reversed.

Wonder Woman rescues the West from Doctor Poison, an evil chemist played with lip smacking relish by Elena Anaya, who has a weapon of mass destruction and ain’t afraid to use it.

Directed by Patty Jenkins in 2017 from Allan Heinberg’s script based on characters created by William M Marston.

Empire magazine called it: “Terrific. A big, goofy grin-on-your-kisser blast that could teach caped crusaders and men of steel a thing or two.”
