THIS true story is that rare thing — a feelgood disaster movie without victims! On January 15, 2009, pilot “Sully” Sullenberger crash landed his passenger jet on the Hudson River,
New York. All 155 passengers were ferried to safety. This white knuckle ride will hold your attention.
In 2016, Clint Eastwood directed this account of an extraordinary event which turned veteran pilot Chesley Sullenberger into an international hero. Colliding with a flock of Canada geese burned out the engines of his US Airways plane shortly after take off from LaGuardia airport, New York. He had seconds to consider the alternatives — try to glide to a nearby airport or put down in the Hudson.
Eastwood shows what might have happened in a dream sequence that has haunted the pilot's sleep. His plane crashes into Manhattan’s skyscrapers.
Tom Hanks plays Sullenberger with cool charisma and Aaron Eckhart is his wisecracking co-pilot Jeff Stiles. Laura Linney plays Sullenberger's wife.
Empire magazine said: “Hanks plays an ordinary man who was briefly extraordinary. The crash is so well put together it could produce motion sickness. For goodness sake, don't watch this on a plane.”
