Cyprus Today

Please keep your distance, partygoers!

-

GREAT to see the events & entertainment page back again in your last issue, Cyprus Today, 30 May, helping us all feel more positive that things may finally be coming back to some normality. I’m not a bingo or quiz fan but we all really need to get out & support our local food and entertainment venues whenever we can. I know that a couple of establishments local to me have had to close their doors due to circumstances beyond their control, which is so despondent for all concerned.

Great too that local charities can now restart their fundraising efforts, and endeavour to provide much needed help & support throughout our community.

On a negative note though I recently saw some live videos uploaded onto social media from a couple of music venues and there didn’t appear to be much social distancing going on at all! Too many expats in a small space just interested in swilling down alcohol, and nothing wrong with that if that’s what you enjoy. We’re all certainly entitled to relax & let our hair down with a few drinks & friends after the last few difficult months, but please let’s try and comply with the specified measures & rules in these uncertain times. The last thing we need is to have another outbreak that warrants a step back in lockdown!!

Keep up the good work Cyprus Today with letting us know what’s on in our areas and let’s all get out there and help each other in a sensible & safe way.
