(2020) ✰✰✰✰ (Sky Cinema Premiere, 11.30am & 9.00pm) The multi-talented writer-director Emerald Fennell (who also starred as Camilla in The Crown) has made quite a splash with her debut feature – it’s nominated for five Oscars, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Actress for leading lady Carey Mulligan. The dark comedy thriller focuses on Cassie (Mulligan), who dropped out of medical school following a traumatic incident. Now, she leads a double life, which involves hanging around bars at night, looking like she’s drunk and vulnerable, and waiting to see who approaches her… It doesn’t make for easy viewing, but it’s definitely fascinating, ambitious and timely, and confirms Fennell as a real talent to watch.
