TC keyboardist releases latest single
LONDON-born Turkish Cypriot musician Hakan Tuna has released the fourth song of his 2021 12 Songs 12 Stories collection.
The latest single, called Rise, is from the album eponymously named after the group in Britain that Mr Tuna was a member of as a keyboardist.
The song entered the UK’s Top 40 after it was released in 1992. The accompanying story covers the period of Mr Tuna’s life when he met vocalist Jon Spong at the family barber shop he used to work at and how their interactions revealed that he was not the only “weird person . . . with long hair that wears black nail polish and strange clothes”.
“I used to think that I was the only one who knew Captain Beefheart,” Mr Tuna added.
The contact with Jon Spong became a bridge to Mr Tuna’s career as a professional musician when he was asked to become a member of Natural Life two days before a live performance in 1992. Rise can be listened to on YouTube or www.hakantuna.com.
