Bayram and Mother’s Day jumble sale
THE Help Those with Cancer Association (Tulips) held a “Bayram and Mother’s Day Jumble Sale” in Lefkoşa on Monday to raise funds for cancer patients, as well as to commemorate April 1-30 Cancer Week and the association’s anniversary.
Labelled products and food were sold for the benefit of cancer patients at the event, held in line with mask, social distancing and hygiene rules.
Tulips head Raziye Kocaismail said in a written statement that the Covid-19 pandemic has adversely affected everyone’s life, health and the economy.
“If you are an association that serves cancer patients, your job becomes very difficult,” Mrs Kocaismail said.
“We have not been able to organise events such as balls, concerts, lottery draws, theatres and bazaars for a year. Donations decreased but the number of cancer patients did not.
“You are helpless while people who are fighting cancer await your support such as medicine, financial aid for examinations and food aid.
“You speak from your heart to those who will hear you because they are the ones who always bring the sick from the dark to the light.”
Mrs Kocaismail thanked businesspeople, donors and Tulips employees for their ongoing support on behalf of cancer patients.
