TC named new chief of Dr Pepper company
TURKISH Cypriot Ozan Dökmecioğlu has been named as the new chief executive of the company that produces the iconic Dr Pepper soft drink and other drinks brands in the US such as Seven-Up, Schweppes and Sunkist.
Mr Dökmecioğlu currently works as the chief financial officer of Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP), a company whose headquarters are based in Burlington, Massachusetts. He will replace Bob Gamgort as CEO on July 29, according to a company statement.
“I am honoured to assume the role of KDP CEO at this important time for our company and look to the future excited by the enormous potential that lies ahead,” Mr Dökmecioğlu said.
“I am grateful for the ongoing partnership with Bob and the support of our Board of Directors and leadership team, as we continue to work together to drive outsized value creation.”
Mr Dökmecioğlu is a native of Gazimağusa and the son of the city’s former mayor and one of the founders of the TRNC’s National Unity Party (UBP), Necdet Dökmecioğlu.
STUDIES
He studied business administration at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, and also received a certificate in project investment and appraisal management from Harvard University.
He joined KDP from Kellogg Inc., where he served in several senior roles. Before joining Kellogg in 2012, he “built his career in finance leadership roles in the US, Europe, and Middle East with Kraft Foods Inc., Cargill Inc. and Arthur Andersen” according to the KDP website.
President Ersin Tatar congratulated Mr Dökmecioğlu, saying that he wished to “underline my satisfaction” at his promotion.
“I seriously believe that this success of Ozan Dökmecioğlu will be an inspiration to many of our young people,” he said.
“I wish Ozan Dökmecioğlu success in his new position and congratulate him.”
