Eliz reaches top 3 of UK pro tennis tournament
TURKISH Cypriot tennis player Eliz Maloney Yorgancı finished an impressive third place in Week 4 of the UK Pro League tennis tournament in Warwick last Saturday.
Eliz, 21, won her group and qualified for the semi-finals, but was beaten by Scotland’s Maia Lumsden 6-3, 6-2.
She then bounced back to beat England’s Danille Dely 6-2, 6-3 in the third place play-off.
The UK Pro League is a season-long competition to crown Britain’s men and women champions.
Running across seven separate weeks from January through to November, each week players compete in a round robin format and play-offs to secure league ranking points as they endeavour to qualify for the end-of-season UK Pro League finals.
The league has a prize fund in excess of £500,000 and is broadcast on BT Sport and Tennis Channel in the UK.
