Children raise over 1,600TL for Kyrenia Animal Rescue centre

-

PUPILS from Mustafa Cağatay Primary School in Zeytinlik raised 1,615TL for Kyrenia Animal Rescue (KAR).

The children donated the money, along with food for animals, during a recent visit to the KAR centre.

The 32 “very excited” nineand ten-year-olds were accompanied on the visit by two teachers and their headteacher Dr Sait Coşaner.

The group “had a look around the dogs and the cattery, found out about the centre and took it in turns to walk some of the dogs if they wanted to, which they really enjoyed” KAR said.

The KAR education team gave the teachers a pack of their workbooks called “The Happy Pets Workbook” and were later “delighted to see photos” of the children “enjoying the workbooks in a lesson”.

“When the workbooks are completed they go home to the families to see, and are in both Turkish and English,” KAR added before thanking Dr Coşaner, the teachers and children for visiting the animals at KAR “and their wonderful donations”.

Meanwhile KAR has renewed its plea for applications to fill a full-time or part-time position working with cats and dogs.

Applicants should be “hardworking” and willing to work six days a week (if applying for a full-time position).

They should also be “in good health and willing to clean, treat, care for the animals, transport members of staff and animals, do a spot of DIY” and “happy to lend your hand to anything for the benefit of our animals”.

Those applying need to have a “clean local driving licence and ideally live west of Girne”. TRNC ID card holders are preferred, although a work permit can be arranged if required “for the right person”.
