THE PLAY-OFFS

-

Binatlı will be left to rue a season in which they simply conceded too many goals, while Cihangir once again finish the season comfortably in midtable.

Göçmenköy, Türk Ocağı, Hamitköy, and Baf Ülkü Yurdu will all take part in the Super League’s relegation playoffs starting today, with one of those four teams set to be relegated at the end of them.

The format is as such: all four teams will play each other once in a round-robin format on neutral grounds until one team is mathematically relegated.

The teams start the play-offs with half of the points they had accrued in the regular season, meaning that the teams with more points have an advantage.

This format is replicated for the promotion and relegation play-offs in the Aksa 1st League.

LOWER LEAGUES

With Miracle Değirmenlik, Larnaka Gençler Birliği, and Karşıyaka all having qualified for the promotion play-offs, the last play-off spot was contested between Southern Fried Chicken Dörtyol (SFCD) and Esentepe going into the final day.

However, SFCD completely collapsed on the final day, falling six goals behind away at relegation-threatened Maraş.

The score on the east coast meant that a single goal would be enough for Esentepe to steal the final play-off spot, and Hüseyin Deynekli scored eight minutes from time to secure their path to the play-offs. SFCD scored three late goals to lose 6-3, but they were not enough to rescue their season.

There will be no relegation play-offs in the 1st League. Görneç were relegated in 15th place following a 4-0 defeat away at Yalova, with Çanakkale also relegated despite securing 14th place after 1-0 defeat at İncirli.

However, with 11thplaced Maraş, 12thplaced Yalova’ and 13thplaced İncirli all winning, Çanakkale found themselves 19 points behind their nearest rival, which meant that even with the playoff format, they would be unable to catch any of the other participating teams.
