‘Aquathlon’ takes place in Yedidalga

THE season’s first “aquathlon”, the name given to a triathlon without the cycling section, was held in Yedidalga last Saturday.

The event was organised by the Triathlon Federation, which chose not to have a cycling leg due to the summer heat.

The athletes began by running 2.5km, before embarking on a 1km swim, and then running another 2.5km.

Tuğcan Özkızan won the men’s category, finishing in a time of 43 minutes and 47.7 seconds, just 2.5 seconds ahead of second placed Enis Alcici. Şevki Ahcıhoca finished in third place with a time of 45m 39.6s.

The women’s category was won by Anastasia Chernova, who left her competitors for dust with a time of 57m 51.7s.

Melda Ünal finished in second place with a time of 59m 20s, while İlayda Teker was third in 59m 23.4s.
