Slow & steady wins the race
THE latest stage of the İşbank 2022 Classic Car Rally Championship has taken place, with a “Regularity Rally” being held between Lefkoşa and the village of Alayköy overnight.
A regularity rally is a test of average speed, with competitors expected to pass checkpoints as close to a predetermined time as possible. Those who are faster or slower lose points.
On this occasion, the general classification was won by Salih Çeliker and Yonca Çeliker, driving a 1972 Mercedes SL350.
Other competitors took part in the event driving Morris Minors, Volkswagen Beetles, Ford Mustangs, and Minis, among various other cars. A total of 48 teams started the rally, but only 39 made it to the finish line.
