High jumper finishes 4th

TURKISH Cypriot high jumper Buse Savaşkan (pictured) finished fourth in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, Turkey.

With North Cyprus not invited to compete at the games, Savaşkan took part representing Turkey.

She jumped to an impressive height of 1.82 metres, but her jump was dwarfed by that of gold medal-winning Safina Sadullaeva of Uzbekistan, who jumped 1.97m.

Her compatriot Svetlana Rdzivil and Kazakhstan’s Kristina Ovchinnikova both reached 1.87m with their best jumps, narrowly beating Savaşkan to a place on the podium.
