Singer starts 10th ‘Art and Culture Days’ with stunning performance
THE 10th Girne Art and Culture Days got under way on Tuesday evening with a “fabulous” performance by Turkish Cypriot singer Işın Karaca at the Girne Amphitheatre.
A large crowd turned up to watch Karaca perform with a “special orchestra”, Girne Municipality, which organised the concert, said.
Girne Mayor Nidai Güngördü, who gave a speech at the event, spoke of his happiness at hosting the Girne Art and Culture Days after the annual event was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said that the slogan of this year’s Culture and Art Days is “art, peace and tolerance”. Mr Güngördü thanked Işın Karaca for her show and also officials from Les Ambassadeurs Hotel for supporting the event.
Three more concerts by Turkish acts are planned as part of the programme. The next will be by Mustafa Ceceli on Tuesday, September 6; Leman Sam on Thursday, September 22; and rock group Kolpa on Wednesday, October 12.
All performances will be held at the Girne Amphitheatre and start at 9pm. Tickets cost 100TL each and can be purchased from Girne Municipality’s public relations department, Girne muhtar offices, Lefkoşa and Girne branches of Deniz Plaza, Rüstem Bookstore in Lefkoşa, or on the door.
