-

THE US ambassador to South Cyprus, Judith Garber, and staff from the US embassy travelled to the Karpaz peninsula on Monday, where they “engaged with local leaders and organisations” and participated in a beach clean-up and sea turtle release co-hosted by the Cyprus Wildlife Research Institute and the Green Action Group.

During the trip Ms Garber also visited the villages of Dipkarpaz and

Kaleburnu and had a meeting with Dipkarpaz Mayor Suphi Coşkun.

Mr Coşkun thanked Ms Garber for her visit to his office and noted that the people of the area have “survived financial and emotional difficulties in solidarity and unity, especially during the pandemic”.

He added that the two agreed on the “necessity to protect cultural diversity” during the meeting.
